Fun with Freezer Paper

kay you know that stuff called freezer paper? It's like wax paper, sorta, but only shiny on one side? Yea, now that you're up to speed let me show you a fun thing you can do with it! I had some fabric paint laying around. I have the most odd things in my craft room. You can get it at Micheals, Hobby Lobby and other craft stores. Buy the good stuff, cheap runny paint won't work for this fun craft. This is a fun craft for kids, but remember irons are hot so you do the ironing parts. My daughter did the cutout, placement and painting with a little help from me.

Need:
A t-shirt, bag, sash, tablecloth, ect. if you have one with a small stain that you don't want to give up that is perfect. Especially for a first try. :)
Good fabric paint or screen printing paint
Iron
Freezer Paper
Craft X-actos or you can use a die cut machine. I used my Cricut Expression.

How:
1. Cut out your design. It can be anything from an image you got online that you printed, words, ANY design you want. Heat your iron.
2. Turn the shirt inside out and iron a piece of freezer paper to the wrong side of the front, this is so the paint doesn't seep through and you end up with paint on the back of your shirt. lol!  I use the silk setting on my iron, not too hot, not too cool. You might want to start off cooler and work your way hot.
3. Gently turn the shirt right side out. Place the freezer paper you cut out on the shirt where ever you like. As shown. If there are any little peices, like inside my butterfly there, put those on after you iron the outside on. So you can control how they are placed. Iron them down one at a time.
4. Dab, not rub, the fabric paint on the exposed fabric. Let dry, heat set (directions on your paint bottle), and TaDa!

We added a few flowers under the butterfly, waited for it all to dry and ran an iron over it.
Please leave questions in the comments area if you have any. It's not dry yet so I don't hav a picture on my favorite model. She helped me do this and she loves it. She wants to go buy more plain shirts and get busy!

That was a long post for me. I now wonder how many typos are there... ahh... I'll go look later. More fun craft time with my daughter to attend to. Thank goodness for weekends! Do somethin fun with your little ones today.  : )  Click for larger pics.

Your blog is so inspiring! Makes me want to get crafty and get my hands dirty and that's saying something because normally, I'm allergic to anything sticky.

Cool! Perfect timing too as my daughter and her friends want to make some "GObama!" t-shirts. I thought I needed to go buy some plastic for the stencil, but this will work even better. Thanks!

You are very clever and I am so going to repair some shirts I have shoved in my drawers, not wanting to give up simply because of small stains that others probably can't even see. BUT I KNOW THEY ARE THERE! :) Thank you for sharing you talents.
