More sewing!? Scraps of fleece baby tag blankie

I'm really enjoying learning to sew! I've been working on cards and paper crafts too. I'll have some of those up soon.

My little girl has been wanting a snuggie/slanket/sort of thing made with cupcakes so I got some fabric 30% off at Hobby Lobby and gave it a shot. That is so easy. It's literally sewing a few straight lines, cutting arm holes and sewing the sleeves in. Oh if only making clothing were so easy! Anyway, we had a little scrap left and it seems like everyone we know is having a baby, so we put those scraps to good use.
Using a Ribbon Blankie tutorial we used ribbon scraps and fleece scraps to make this blankie. Of course, you know I had to put a twist on it. I put one of my pacifier clips on one corner so not only will this blankie be a soft toy for a baby to chew on and play with, it will also keep that pacifier handy.

It's fleece on both sides, I just pinned the ribbon and went to sewing around it. Turned it out and hand stitched hte opening closed. I'm not totally comfortable with top stitching yet. I like my uneven stitching to be hidden. lol! So do you think this sewing thing is working out for me or should I just give up?

That's really cute! I've used a sewing machine on a scrapbook page once, but that was it!

I think these are so neat. My boys would have loved them when they were little. I have friends on etsy that make them and this company keeps claiming the idea is original to them and copyright.... My dh had one when he was little (boy colors of course) that his mom used when she was little. I find it absurd they keep trying to shut down other stores that sell these things.

...sorry. I rant a bit every time I see a blanket like that. They're neat and your's is pretty!

Wow Amanda, I didn't know about that. That's weird. I had something like it when I was a baby. Obviously the ribbon is much cuter now, that was the 80s. lol

I recently heard that the word Onsie is copyrighted and that you're not supposed to use it when selling onsies. If we can't call that thing a onsie, what do we call it?

Amanda @geekdetails said...

Yes. Onsie is copyrighted too and if you use it in a listing, they will contact Etsy to have it removed even if you're using their brand of Onsie and have just decorated it. Even if you don't say onsie but have the tag from a Gerber onsie showing, they'll contact you to remove the listing or remove the tag. It's weird. I've heard of people calling it a one piece now or a body suit etc. Weird so weird.

Oh how dang cute! I guess my question is on the ribbons... are they securely fastened inside? Paranoid me would be worried about a choking hazard for baby....

But cute!

Oh I'm so paranoid too. They are stitched over and backstitched to one side, then stitched again when I added the second layer of fleece. So they are sewn over 3 times. I'm pretty sure they are in there good. I'm a worrier too. :) Someone told me that I should have put something inside it to make noise (crinkle plastic) but I'd be worried the baby could get it out if there was a hole in it or something...

Love your taggy blanket! What a great idea to sew a pacifier clip right onto it. My daughter was a passy baby and we were constantly losing it. :) Melissa

I've ever liked things like sand clocks, lava lamps, and the like to well-wishing of fair-minded fritter away in days of yore staring at it as a cut of catharsis. In a course, it helps me with meditation, to mitigate emphasis and just fantasize about nothing. That's why since I was a kid, instead of dolls and cars I've perpetually collected more of such pieces like sand clocks, lava lamps, musical boxes etc. So I was most delighted when I start the 2-Laser + LED Light Appear Laser Ace Gyroscope with Music Effects from DealtoWorld.com protection the Toys section. It's like a harmonious box, a spinning head, and a light divulge all rolled into one. Which is capacious relaxation! The gyroscope will concoct representing in the air a minute. The laser light manifest with accompanying music makes this gyroscope a pretty incomparable bauble that my friends get also been most amused with.

My dogs are also fair intrusive around the laser gyroscope I got from DealtoWorld.com. They unceasingly follow the gyroscope as it spins, although at first place they kept barking at the laser slight accompany, and also because it produces music. But after they got employed it, they've stopped barking but due keep following the gyroscope whenever I start spinning it. Kids are also bonny amused nearby it. Occasionally it's proper to take diverting toys on all sides the house so that you can go away the diminutive on while the kids are being amused or playing with it while you count get up viands or sock changed. The gyroscope is a particular such toy with this purpose.

The gyroscope I bought from DealtoWorld.com has a dragon as a intent plot on it, and produces a dainty show with red, obscene, and unripened colours. Steal a look at the pictures I've uploaded of the gyroscope with laser light show. The music produced from the gyroscope is not that enormous but facts sufficiency to accommodate any new customer to the house. The gyroscope is red and black, making it look particular cool, and somewhat masculine with that dragon imprint.

The music light show gyroscope runs on 6 LR44 batteries, which are replaceable anyway. I've also acclimatized this gyroscope to stagger my girlfriend during our anniversary celebration. I did the cheesy terror of decorating the b & b elbow-room with roses and when I led her in, I started up the gyroscope as correctly so that the laser insight expose produces a romantic effect. I also had some battery operated candles so all the understanding effects created a slightly romantic atmosphere. She loved it, at near the custom, to my relief. I also bought the candles from DealtoWorld.com. These days it seems to be my non-fulfilment shopping put in return all gifts and ideas in behalf of romantic occasions.

Since Christmas is coming, this laser lamp make clear gyroscope can possibly be a talented Christmas give-away looking for the toddler or even the pet! Alternatively, the gyroscope can altogether be a polite reckoning to the established Christmas decorations. I can fancy placing it within a mile of the Christmas tree and peradventure spinning it when guests hit town in the house. Looks like DealtoWorld.com is getting my subject anyway again!
